Almost everyone has witnessed this
sublime Venice scene through pictures. It's a view of the Grand
Canal
from the Accademia Bridge. The towering church that you see is
Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. While in Venice I visited
about 15 churches, including this one. Most of them looked pretty
ordinary on the outside, but inside they were incredible!
Unfortunately pictures weren't allowed inside.

Here's a view similar to the previous picture, except this one was
taken while I was on a Vaporetto. At the top of the picture you
can see the bottom of the Accademia Bridge.

The waterfront close to St. Mark's Square where a lot of boats
dock. You can see part of the Doge's Palace and Campanile over to
the right, and to the left is Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute that
you saw in the pictures above. Again you can see the yellow
vaporetto stop to the right. Those waterbuses came in handy!

Another picture at the waterfront with me holding a cone of
gelato! Italy is know for it's good ice cream (which is called
gelato). Even though the weather was cool (usually in the low
50's) I still made sure that I ate plenty of the stuff. It was
very good, but it still doesn't compare to Blue Bell! (a Texas ice
cream, for those who are unaware).

Here's a picture at a concert I attended one night. The
performers are dressed in clothes that were common during the Baroque
era. There are quite a few classical performers in Venice,
and they tend to concentrate on performing works by Antonio Vivaldi,
who was a native Venetian. At this concert, the group played
Vivaldi's Four Seasons as well is Albinoni's Adagio, Pachelbel's Canon,
And Bach's Air from Orchestral Suite in D. These are some of my
favorites!

Here is a typical trattoria (like a cafe or small restaurant).
This one is located away from the main tourist area. As in most
of Europe, the menus are always displayed outside with prices, so you
know what you're getting yourself into. This one had great pizza!
