| I can receive but not send E-Mail -or- I get "relaying denied". |
The reason for this error is that you are incorrectly configured for outgoing mail. This is usually the case when Authentication is not turned on. There are 3 easy methods to fix this problem, in recommended order, as explained below:
To send mail on our network, from any Internet connection in the world, you must use one of the following 3 methods (click to learn about it):
- Authentication: SMTP Authentication
Authentication allows you to prove who you are when sending mail, thus allowing you to send mail via our mail system on any Internet connection without worry of what network you are on. This method is standard procedure for mail in today's world.
To learn how to enable this, choose your mail software on our E-Mail Support Main Page.
- Authentication + Port: SMTP Authentication & Port 587
If your ISP (Internet Connection) company is doing port filtering, and thus blocking the standard mail port forcing you to utilize their mail systems, simply change your port to "587" from "25" and enable authentication.
To learn how to enable this, choose your mail software on our E-Mail Support Main Page.
- Use the ISP's Server: Use your ISP's outgoing mail server
This method is least recommended because it makes you modify your mail settings as you move your PC/Laptop/Handheld from network to network as you travel,
making it a pain, and thus a last resort. Before the above 2 recommendations were available, this method of using your local ISP as your Outgoing (SMTP) mail server was
common practice. Simply ask your ISP what their "Outgoing / SMTP Mail Server" name is, and plug that in.
We provide a list of some common ones HERE.
