Here's some pictures from my European travels!
This is my favorite. The name of the place is Vicar's Close, which is the oldest complete Medieval street in Europe. The building in the background is Wells Cathedral, which houses a famous music school. The housing on this street is mostly for students of the school. The city is Wells, in the west of England.
These are the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey in the town of Glastonbury, England. Legend says that Joseph of Arimathea (sp?) brought Christianity to this area in the first century. The abbey was destroyed by King Henry VIII. The priests and monks who resided at the abbey would not go along with Henry's rebellion against the Catholic church.
This is a memorial in Glastonbury Abbey marking the supposed burial place of Arthur and Guinevere. Glastonbury has quite a bit of Arthurian legend associated with it.
This Oxford pub, the Eagle and Child, was where the "Inklings" (C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkein, Charles Williams, Owen Barfield and others) met to discuss their ideas, smoke their tobacco, and have a pint or two.
Here is the castle and town of Conwy, Wales. There are walls which extend from the castle and surround the town. The town is bordered by the sea to the north and by mountains to the south.
This is a Republican mural in the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Republicans favor an independent, united Ireland free from British rule.
This is a Loyalist mural in Belfast. Loyalists favor British rule of Northern Ireland.
This is a good view of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France.
Here's an interesting view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The gravesite of Heloise and Abelard in Pere' Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
