Who am I?

Well, my name is Wesley Bryan Williamson (I go by "Wes"). I am a person who desires to live a fully human life of love, passion, depth, freedom, and intimacy. I have found (in my experience) that such a life can only be lived by immersing myself in the Source of all life and goodness. Therefore my goal is to know and love God by striving to incorporate his presence and will into every area of my life. Christianity offers me the grace, mercy, and direction necessary to press forward in this quest for wholeness.

I was born on October 17, 1969, and grew up in Dayton, Texas. I now live in College Station, Texas.

Hobbies

Music: Celtic (traditional, Celtic Rock etc.), Western Swing, Classical (Baroque & Romantic), Cajun, Classic Rock, Medieval, Renaissance, Scandinavian, Swing, Texas Music, etc. Favorite Artists: Iona, Runrig, Bob Wills, Kitaro, J.S. Bach, Johann Strauss, Jerry Jeff Walker, U2, The Eagles, and Hot Club of Cowtown. I love to attend the Texas Renaissance festival where a variety of medieval and Celtic groups are featured.

Travel: I love to travel to Europe, especially Ireland and Britain. I normally get around by carrying a backpack and traveling by bus and train. I like to see my travel as an adventure and a spiritual pilgrimage. Also, I love the American West, especially the Rocky Mountains where I love to hike. Now, the weird part is I also like Las Vegas. I don't even like to gamble, but there are so many awesome sights that really stir the imagination, and it's one of the cheapest vacations you'll ever take.

Reading and Study: Libraries and bookstores are two of my favorite hangouts. I love to read theology and other books related to spirituality. I also enjoy fiction dealing with Arthurian legend. Other interests are psychology, history, sociology, and philosophy. Some of my favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Victor Hugo, Owen Barfield, and Thomas Merton. The greatest novel ever written? The Brothers Karamazov, without a doubt!

Writing: as you can see through this web site, I love to write. My goal is to contribute in some way to the spiritual well-being of humanity through discerning and conveying eternal truths.

Sports: I love to play tennis, and do so about once or twice a week. I've also recently gotten into jogging to keep my heart healthy, and do some weight training in addition.

Education

I received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Texas Tech University in 1991. I really enjoyed my years as a college student. Texas Tech is a wonderful place for a well rounded liberal arts education.

Vocation

I am the Administrative Assistant at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in College Station, Texas. Most of the work I do is communications related, dealing primarily with desktop publishing. I also play drums at Aldersgate's Sunday services.
