What does it mean to be a Christian Romantic?
Hello and welcome to Christian Romanticism! I hope you find this site informative and uplifting. My desire is that all who browse these pages will be drawn closer to God as a result. First of all, I'll make an attempt to define what I mean by Christian Romanticism. It would be impossible to describe in one sentence, so I'll list what I believe to be important elements.
1. A Christian Romantic is a person who knows that he or she has been reconciled to God through his son, Jesus Christ.
2. A Christian Romantic is a person who seeks to love God with all her/his heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love her/his neighbor as her/himself.
3. A Christian Romantic believes that God's love is the most powerful force in the universe.
4. A Christian Romantic believes that a loving God seeks ways to draw humanity close to him.
5. A Christian Romantic places a high value on emotional experience, seeking ways to love God more deeply through such experiences.
6. A Christian Romantic looks for the good in all humans.
7. A Christian Romantic values imagination as a way to experience and understand God's beauty and truth.
8. A Christian Romantic does not hide from a life fully lived, but embraces both joy and sorrow as part of God's plans and purposes.
9. A Christian Romantic seeks to discover and express spiritual truths through art (painting, sculpture, architecture, music, literature, drama, dance, etc.).
10. A Christian Romantic values nature as God's gift and discovers his beauty and truth through it.
